The Vestry of All Saints Episcopal Church is proud to announce to the Roanoke Valley Community the selection of The Reverend Joseph Malcolm (Sonny) Browne, III as the new Rector and spiritual leader of our congregation. Reverend Browne most recently served as Canon for Diocesan Life in the Diocese of East Carolina. He also served as Bishop Skirving’s representative on the Board of the Ministry. Prior to his work at the Diocese of East Carolina, Reverend Browne served as Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity, NC for 12 years. Reverend Browne is originally from Roxobel in Bertie County.

Reverend Browne received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina in 1999; his Master of Arts in Teaching from UNC in 2001 and the Masters of Divinity, Theology Degree from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2004. Additionally, Reverend Browne is fluent in Spanish.

Chris Lehman, Senior Warden of All Saints Church, stated, “In the Vestry’s extensive interview process with Reverend Browne, we were impressed by his passion for the Ministry, his love for people and his value of the Episcopal Liturgy. The Vestry was also very impressed with Reverend Browne’s intelligence, his unassuming manner, and his straightforward communication style”.

Reverend Browne will officially begin his service at All Saints on January 1, 2020. However, he will be conducting the Christmas Eve Service on December 24, 2019 which starts at 5:00 PM. The entire community is welcome to join the congregation of All Saints as we celebrate the Birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The All Saints community is very excited to welcome Reverend Browne to the Roanoke Valley and we welcome everyone to join with us as our Church looks to the future with love and joy.
